WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WCJB) - If you are looking for a year where the GHS volleyball program returned to playing for a state title yearly, this was the one.
Though GHS fell in four sets to the (27-3) Mavericks. It was never easy as the Lady Canes scored 20 or more points in each set. This was after Jordyn Barnard left the match in the first set, hampering the front-court depth. Barnard briefly returned in the third set to help GHS force a fourth set. (20-25, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-20)
Hats off to TV20 Meldon Law Scholar Athlete, Addy Hauptman, and Rowan Kage. But GHS has 13 returning players next year.
The Lady Canes won their third straight district title, blew everyone away in regionals, and gave a message to the Class 5A competition.
We are back and there is always next year.
Great seas
