Recent rainfall has brought modest but welcome relief to drought-stricken areas across the Ozarks. Most locations received between one and two inches of rain to close out October, an encouraging step in the right direction after months of dry weather.
According to the latest update from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Drought Monitor, the Ozarks have been removed from the extreme drought classification.
Northern Arkansas has fared somewhat better in recent weeks, as a series of thunderstorms delivered several inches of rain, helping to ease local drought impacts.
Despite these improvements, much of the region remains under severe or moderate drought conditions.
