LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Little Rock Police Department has arrested a man in relation to a homicide that took place Saturday morning.

Officials stated that Derek Kennedy was charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death of 30-year-old William Pritchard.

LRPD officers were sent to the 4000 block of West Markham at around 5:30 a.m. after reports of a shooting.

They arrived and found Pritchard unresponsive. Police said that despite medical treatment, Pritchard died at the scene.

Authorities said that the incident initially appeared as a suicide; however, after further investigation, detectives ruled it to be a homicide.

LRPD stated that the investigation is ongoing.
