COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) announced the arrest of a detention guard at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on charges of excessive force.

According to RCSD, 52-year-old Latasha McClendon was arrested Nov. 6 for using excessive force on two inmates.

On that day, deputies were informed that a detention guard was accused of excessive force at the jail.

An investigation showed that on the night of Oct. 26, Officer McClendon with the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center got into an argument with an inmate in a cell.
