Surrey’s south end could house its very first complex care site, but not without significant resident pushback.
Fraser Health, B.C. Housing and the City of Surrey are collaborating on a project to create 590 homes and shelter spaces in some neighbourhoods. The south end of Surrey has been selected for 290 of those units, consisting of 200 affordable rental units, 40 supportive housing studio units, and 20 complex care studio units at 15238 19 Ave. and 1880 152 St.
“People have different housing needs, and we’re working hard to help everyone find a place to live that suits them,” Christine Boyle, minister of housing and municipal affairs, said in a statement when announcing the initiative in September.
