CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- A section of Spring Creek in Centre County has been dedicated exclusively to veterans, providing them with a serene fishing spot to enjoy for years to come.
The dedication of this stretch of Spring Creek fulfills the dream of Gerald Clair, a veteran, doctor, farmer, and conservationist, who envisioned a place where veterans and disabled veterans could fish in peace.
"His dream was to be able to have vets and disabled vets, to be able to fish here," Amy Bilyeu, daughter of Gerald and Susan Clair, said.
Veterans Fishing Program Coordinator for the Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited Tom Garlow emphasized the importance of this resource, saying, "This is a great resource now for veterans that either fly fish or want to learn to fly fish."
