BOSTON — Rising seas and damaging storms fueled by climate change threaten Massachusetts’ coastal communities, and state and local leaders are seeking protections to harden the shoreline from the worst impacts.

On Thursday, the state Office of Coastal Zone Management released its ResilientCoasts plan, which outlines the state’s strategy to address vulnerability to coastal hazards such as sea level rise, storm surge, and erosion over the next 50 years.
