Ontario’s anti-tariff ad generated worldwide headlines by derailing Canadian trade talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, but a new poll suggests it has not affected Premier Doug Ford’s popularity.
Abacus Data’s monthly tracking survey found Ford’s Progressive Conservatives holding steady at 51 per cent support to 23 per cent for the Liberals, whose leader Bonnie Crombie is resigning , 19 per cent for Marit Stiles’s NDP and three per cent for Mike Schreiner’s Greens.
“This poll was done after a sustained number of weeks in which Ford was blamed for ending the talks and that doesn’t seem to have hurt him at all,” Abacus president David Coletto said Monday.
Ford’s government earmarked $75 million for a U.S. media blitz with a 60-second commercial featuring a 1987 speech of president
