LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Laredo Public Health Department announced a new health initiative offering free vasectomy services to men in recognition of Men’s Health Awareness Month.

The program is limited to the first 30 eligible patients, who must complete a full lipid panel blood test before receiving the surgery at no cost.

“The surgery is through a doctor; those services are through our clinic, you are seen through the Nurse Practitioner and then the doctor would do the procedure,” said Jaime Perez of the Laredo Public Health Department.

The health department continues to offer vasectomy services year-round. Once the 30 free spots are filled, patients can still access the services for a fee of $560.
