Candles adorned the doorstep to the now-closed Joyeria Angelo’s on Monday in the 3800 block of West 26th Street in Little Village.
That’s where Faustino Alamo, 63, and his son, Luis Angel Alamo, 25, both of Berwyn, were gunned down Saturday night.
“They were hard-working people. It’s a tough time for the family right now. … They are a very close family,” said Jeronimo Alamo, a relatives who works at another jewelry store about two blocks away.
According to Chicago police, the shooting occurred about 5:49 p.m. Saturday when a man with a gun parked across the street and then walked into the jewelry store.
The man grabbed some jewelry and ran out of the store. The Alamos ran after him.
They got into an altercation with the robber who then opened fire. Faustino Alamo fired off one or two
