LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A man told police he suspected a coyote bit his dog before he put the animal in the trash last week, leading detectives to connect him to their investigation through video from an earlier call.
Randy Katz, 60, faces a felony animal abuse charge. Last week, a neighbor found the dog, who Katz identified as "Baily," in the trash and rushed it to an animal hospital, where it died.
On Nov. 4, police responded to the animal hospital for a report of a “possible animal abuse case,” documents said. At the animal hospital, an officer made contact with a man who said he was taking in his trash when he noticed it felt “heavier” than normal.
The man also told the officer he heard “labored breathing” from the trash bag and that the bag “appeared to be moving,” documents said. The
