FREMONT COUNTY, Iowa —
The Fremont County Sheriff's Department in Iowa says a 26-year-old Sidney man was booked into jail on more than two dozen charges relating to domestic violence and assault.
The sheriff's office says the investigation into Trevor Hogrefe began on Nov. 7 after a victim reported a "pattern of abuse and escalating threats." Court documents outline a series of alleged incidents dating back to July.
One criminal complaint alleges Hogrefe assaulted his wife while she was holding their child. Investigators allege he then held the victim down and "smothered her with a baby swaddle", according to the document.
