SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend Community School Corporation school board unanimously approved its new collective bargaining agreement with the district’s teachers Monday night.

This makes the corporation the highest paying district in the region.

16 News Now attended the meeting.

Under the previous collective bargaining agreement, the average teacher salary for South Bend schools ranked outside the top 200 in Indiana.

But the salary increases outlined in the new contract would make South Bend Schools one of the 10 highest paying districts in the state.

“The vote to approve action item 4.01 passes unanimously, seven votes,” said Dr. Jeanette McCullough the SBCSC school board president.
