The Decatur City Council appointed new leadership for Decatur Fire and Rescue on Monday.
The council appointed Nathan Springer as the next Fire Chief for the City of Decatur.
Springer brings 25 years of experience to the position. He started with the Greenhill Volunteer Fire Department in 1998 and also served as a Flight Paramedic with Huntsville MedFlight. He also worked as an instructor with the Alabama Fire College.
Springer will begin his new role on Nov. 24.
