A three-alarm fire at a historic building in Hampden has been contained, Baltimore City fire spokesperson John Marsh told WBAL-TV 11 News.

Firefighters were called around 4:30 p.m. to 3355 Keswick Road near 34th Street, the old Northern District Police Station.

Video from SKY 11 showed most of the roof had collapsed, and everyone who was inside the building evacuated, Marsh said.

Baltimore City Councilwoman Odette Ramos, D-District 14, said the building housed several businesses, including a brokerage, an insurance company, a chiropractor and other companies.

The fire was a challenge because of the building’s slated roof, Marsh said.

“We had a slate ceiling, and pieces of slate were coming down, so we created a collapse zone for that. We did an exterior attack, completely,” Marsh said
