CHARLESTON, Maine (WABI) - An inmate who had recently been released from Mountain View Correctional Facility has died.

The Maine Department of Corrections say 63-year-old Eugene Caston died Saturday morning.

He was on supervised community confinement.

While a cause of the death was not released, the Maine Attorney General’s Office and Medical Examiner were notified which is standard protocol.

Last year, Caston began serving a six-year sentence for trafficking drugs and illegal possession of a firearm.
