A teenage girl who handbagged her boyfriend during a tiff has been hit with a fine and community order after a judge said she was ''emotionally overwhelmed'' at the time.

Hannah Duffy, 18, hurled her bag at Leo Adekoya in the street and also kicked, slapped and punched him after he called her a 'slag' during an argument, Cavendish Press reported.

Warrington Magistrates Court heard that Duffy had gone to see Adekoya in Chester city centre in the early hours before attacking him. He admitted punching and pushing Duffy in response to her attack.

Duffy, who lives in Birkenhead, pleaded guilty to assault and was also sentenced to a 12-month community order with requirements that she participate with 20 days of rehabilitation activ
