WELLSTON, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The end of the federal government shutdown brings relief to federal workers going without pay and people dealing with delays in SNAP benefits. However, the strain placed on food banks and pantries is not likely to disappear when the federal government reopens.
Charles Jackson is a longtime client at The Wellston Center , going there for more than 25 years.
“This place means so much to me and so much to everybody who comes in here because without this place, a lot of us, we just wouldn’t have a chance to, you know, get things accessibly like we can get here,” said Jackson.
He also receives SNAP benefits. What he received on Wednesday at The Wellston Center served as a bridge. He got a partial payment this week.
