ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - After 43 days of uncertainty, missed paychecks, and unpaid federal benefits, the federal government shutdown has come to an end.

Two of the lawmakers who voted in support of the bill that helped reopen the government were 6th Congressional District Rep. Ben Cline and 9th Congressional District Rep. Morgan Griffith.

Rep. Cline said he has not taken a paycheck since the shutdown started, just like the federal workers in his district. He said he is hopeful that we will not see a similar back and forth when this continuing resolution expires at the beginning of 2026.
