VINTON, Va. (WDBJ) - The town of Vinton may be one step closer to having new townhouses for people to live in.

Wednesday, at the Vinton War Memorial, dozens gathered to learn more about the possible housing project.

The plan is to build 175 townhouses next to Montgomery Village.

The Roanoke County Economic Authority has owned the land for 30 years and hasn’t been able to bring in any industrial buildings to the site.

They have since put out a request for proposals and A Boone Real Estate pitched the idea to address what they believe is a huge need in the New River Valley.
