Have you ever heard of anyone using AI to fight Mother Nature?

They're called Pano AI cameras, and officials believe they will help firefighters and state agencies better identify wildfires when they occur.

State Forester Laura McCarthy said, "This new AI-enabled wildfire detection technology provides continuous automated monitoring of high-risk areas."

She emphasized the importance of the technology, stating that Pano AI will send data and information to the nearest fire stations and agencies on how to tackle fires it finds, before fires get out of control.

Reflecting on past incidents, McCarthy said, "The wildfires (New Mexico) experienced in 2022 and 2024 were a wakeup call...More homes than ever before were destroyed in those fires."
