EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. (KOLO) - On Wednesday, Nov. 12, about 700 students at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs, Calif., heard a “One Pill Can Kill” presentation, according to an El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.
The immersive experience was put on by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer program with help from Deputy Dan Freeman, other school resource officers, chaplains from the Sierra Chaplaincy, and El Dorado County Fire personnel.
It aims to highlight the nationwide epidemic surrounding fatal fentanyl overdoses through education.
Additional presentations are being planned for other area high schools.
In 2024, the “One Pill Can Kill” presentations started in El Dorado County.
