New Delhi, Nov 13: India and Nepal have signed an agreement to enhance rail-based freight movement between the two countries, particularly facilitating transport from Jogbani to Biratnagar.
This includes bulk cargo and expands key transit corridors such as Kolkata-Jogbani and Visakhapatnam-Nautanwa. The initiative aims to improve multimodal trade connectivity and support Nepal’s trade with other countries.
The pact was signed in the presence of India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Nepal’s Anil Kumar Sinha.
Additionally, ongoing projects to bolster cross-border connectivity and trade, including the establishment of joint ventures for power transmission, were discussed, corroborating India’s role as Nepal’s largest trade and investment partner.
