Work to demolish one of Bristol’s most notorious and longest-standing eyesore buildings is underway - 25 years after it was last in use. Unusually, the demolition of the ‘Kernow Building’ began this week using contractors hired by Bristol City Council - even though the council don’t own the building.
Council bosses have obtained legal powers to demolish the building on Mina Road in St Werburghs themselves, and make the owner of the building pay afterwards, because the structure was unsound and it was a risk to neighbours and people in the area.
