CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Authorities were able to take illegal drugs worth thousands of dollars off the streets of Cherokee County this week.
According to the sheriff’s office, the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (CMANS), along with other law enforcement agencies, announced the seizure of about 200 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $500,000 on Monday at an undisclosed storage facility.
The sheriff’s office says the seizure is the largest methamphetamine seizure in the county’s history and “represents a significant blow” to a drug ring with known ties to El Salvador, Mexico, and the violent MS-13 street gang.
Authorities say charges in the case are “forthcoming,” but suspect identities are not being released at this time.
