In the mid-2000s, at age 20, Elishia Durrett Johnson met her partner and future husband, Juwan.

The couple experienced triumphs and tribulations together. Side by side, they finished college, raised children and started a business. In 2019, just weeks after the founding of Durrett Johnson's mental health counseling service and seven months into their marriage, tragedy struck.
