EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. (KCTV) - Law enforcement found a 35-year-old Kansas City woman dead on a road Wednesday evening, but the circumstances surrounding her death are unknown.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department stated officers learned of a body in the roadway in the 1000 block of Fredericksburg Road just before 6 p.m.

When they arrived, police found the body of Mary Levingston on the shoulder of the road.

The department indicated that her injuries of blunt force trauma were consistent with being struck by a car.

Officers said the fatality is being investigated as a hit-and-run, but no suspect vehicle or driver is known.
