Jameer Simpkins, a 15-year-old Atlantic City resident was fatally shot on Friday, Nov. 7., according to a fundraiser set up to support his family.

"Jameer...was taken from us far too soon due to senseless gun violence," his aunt Shareefa Simpkins, who organized the fundraiser wrote. "Full of life, laughter, and love."

Jameer was an A&B honor roll student and a bright apirit who loved to dance, joke around and play video games with his friends, Simpkins wrote.

"He brought so much joy to everyone who knew him," Simpkins wrote.

At 5:24 p.m., officers responded to the area of 800 Arkansas Avenue for a shooting, the Atlantic City Prosecutor's Office said.. Officers found Simpkins with multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said. He was taken to AtlantiCare Medical Center – City Division, where he was pronounced dead, officers said.

A 17-year-old boy was also shot and is expected to recover, authorities said.

The fundraiser is meant to support Simpkins' family. As of Thursday, Nov. 13, more than $1,100 has been raised.

The shooting remains under investigation, authorities said.
