BLAINE, Maine —

Maine authorities say human remains that were recently found in Aroostook County are those of a woman who went missing from the Presque Isle area months ago.

State police said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta confirmed the remains that were discovered in Blaine on Oct. 30 belong to Tomis Hoyt, a 36-year-old mother of two.

The Aroostook County Sheriff's Office said Hoyt was last seen on July 13, walking along the Robinson Road in Mars Hill.

Hoyt was believed to have been barefoot and without money when she went missing, the Sheriff's Office said.

The cause and manner of Hoyt's death remain under investigation, according to state police.

No additional information is being shared by authorities at this time.
