DOVER, N.H. —
In Dover, city officials voted unanimously on an ordinance that would require muzzles or restraints for “vicious dogs” in public.
The ordinance is based off House Bill 250, which was signed into law earlier this year.
Deputy Mayor Dennis Shanahan said the police department looked back on HB 250 and suggested that the city follow the state definition of "vicious" when it comes to dogs.

House Bill 250 states that additional bylaws and regulations can be made concerning the licensing, muzzling and restraining of dogs as it deems reasonable. According to the state, a vicious dog is any dog that bites, attacks or preys on people and other animals.
