MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A sentencing date has been pushed back for former Memphis police officer Patric Ferguson.
Ferguson, 33, is accused of kidnapping, shooting, and killing 30-year-old Robert Howard while on duty back in 2021.
In August, he pleaded guilty to his federal charges three months before he was set to go on trial.
Ferguson was set to be sentenced in accordance with that plea on Thursday.
That has since been pushed back to December 1 to allow his attorneys to argue for less time served and for the government to speak to more family members to give the judge a clearer picture of what happened.
On the state level, he is still charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. He has not yet entered a plea, and a state trial has not yet been scheduled.
