ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A north Georgia woman was arrested on child cruelty charges, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Alyssa Clark, 18, of Cleveland – in White County, about 80 miles northeast of Atlanta – was arrested by GBI agents and Cleveland police on two counts of cruelty to children.

The police department asked the GBI to assist with the child abuse investigation on Tuesday, Nov. 4, according to the GBI.

“Although the investigation is still ongoing, information gathered so far has resulted in charges against Clark,” the agency said.

Clark was booked into the White County Detention Center.
