A father has admitted to placing a pillow over his infant daughter's face, contending that it was "for a few minutes max," Missouri authorities say.

Miguel Simmons has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child , Greene County court records show. The case began on Monday after a witness walked into a room at Simmons' home in Springfield and saw a pillow on the bed "wiggling."

The witness grabbed the "regular sized" sleeping pillow and found underneath it the baby girl, who was not quite 2 months old. The witness was concerned that the baby "would not have been able to breathe."
