Kamran Eskandari has been playing the Lotto 6/49 since the 1990s, and his persistence and patience have finally paid off — big time.

Last month, he went to check his ticket, and he found out he’s one of Alberta’s newest millionaires after winning $1-million on the Oct. 1 Gold Ball draw.

“The cashier said she would check it for me, and at first we both thought I’d won $100,000,” Eskandari told the Western Canadian Lottery Corporation in a Thursday media release.

“When I realized how much it was, my heart was beating so fast.

“I called my sister (to tell her) and my heart was really going, but I was just trying to be cool.”

Eskandari said he wants to focus on his investments with his newfound jackpot. He plans to pay off his mortgage and line of credit, and then may look to invest more
