LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - SNAP recipients are still waiting for full benefits despite the federal government reopening after a record 43-day shutdown.
Lexington resident Karen Clay’s Electronic Benefit Transfer card balance reads zero as of Thursday. About $650 is scheduled to hit her card on November 19, but that’s almost $300 short of what she normally receives to feed her three children.

During the shutdown, the USDA filed legal challenges that would reduce maximum allotments by 35 percent.
“It’s not fair, it’s not right for those who really need really bad and those whose making a whole lot less than I am also,” Clay said.
