A woman walking her dog Wednesday afternoon in Greenlawn was hit by a car and critically injured, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
A 2020 Lexis struck the woman about 2 p.m. after she "stepped into the westbound lane of travel" in front of a home on Cuba Hill Road, the Suffolk police said in a news release late Wednesday. The roadway is a two-lane street lined with homes on either side, according to Google Maps .
The woman was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore and "admitted in critical condition," police said. The dog was unharmed.
Detectives with the Suffolk County Police Second Squad in Huntington are investigating, the department said. Police are withholding the woman's identity until her next of kin have been notified.
