Steve Hall, the 28-year-old British man who authorities say caused a fatal car crash while fleeing from police, is not who he says he is.
Hall is actually 24-year-old George Linard, NJ.com reports, citing a criminal complaint. Linard had given police a phony driver's license following from the UK with the name "Steve Hall," the outlet said. the deadly crash he caused while fleeing officers in West Deptford on Sunday, Nov. 9, as previously reported by Daily Voice.
He is now charged with giving police a false identification, NJ.com reported. He's also charged with reckless death by auto/vehicular homicide out of Mantua. Daily Voice has reached out to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office for details.
In September 2024, Linard was pulled over by officers in Rochelle Park for erratic driving, Rochelle Park police said. Linard quickly jumped in the back seat and pretended to be asleep, as reported by Daily Voice.
He was arrested for DUI found with and more than $32,000 in cash, cocaine and fake European passports were seized from the vehicle, police said. He was charged with DUI, drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of false government documents, possession of property derived from criminal activity, and credit card theft.
Records show that in December 2022, he was charged with careless driving in Mount Olive. In October 2016, he was charged with careless driving in Mantua.
