A housing developer has spoken out amid ongoing problems with a Coventry derelict hotel they wish to demolish to build houses. The Allesley Hotel on Birmingham Road has been closed for several years, the once grand venue sadly becoming the target of vandals and arsonists.
Earlier this month fire crews were called to reports of a blaze at the site for the second time in less than two weeks. It came weeks after police issued a plea asking parents to keep children away from the site.
A planning application for homes on the site would see the hotel demolished. However, the former hotel has been left to rot and become a danger while the application goes through the necessary but long-winded stages.
