ARIZONA, USA — A Brazilian company is set to buy Hickman’s Family Farm, the Arizona egg farm that took a huge financial hit after losing most of its stock of chickens to infection earlier this year.
On Nov. 14, Mantiqueira USA announced plans to purchase the chicken farm that produces eggs.
"The acquisition marks a significant milestone in MTQ USA’s launch and its long-term strategy to build a strong, scalable presence in the U.S. egg market," Mantiqueira USA said in a news release.
The announcement comes after a decade of legal battles between the company and Tonopah property owners , prompted by Hickman’s use of an agriculture exemption to build an industrial-sized facility in the far west Valley.
