ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A new museum in Blacksburg is opening its doors with a mission to honor the Greatest Generation and preserve their stories for years to come.
The WWII Museum of the New River Valley held its grand opening Saturday, showcasing artifacts, documents and personal items tied to World War II ... many collected by founder Joseph Collins or donated by community members.
Collins, a local resident and veteran, has spent years gathering items. He said the turnout shows how much the project means to the New River Valley.
