No. 8 Shore got a pair of goals from the Elias sisters, sophomore Finley and senior Briella, to defeat No. 9 Madison 2-0 in the Group 1 state final at the NJSIAA Field Hockey Championships at Bordentown on Saturday.
It was a fitting conclusion to the season for the two sisters, who are playing high school field hockey together for the first time this year, after Briella sat out Finley’s freshman season with a knee injury.
The two goals were part of a powerful offensive attack by the Blue Devils, who controlled time of possession throughout the game to earn their second straight Group 4 state title, in this, their seventh straight finals appearance. The championship was the 20th in school history, ranking Shore third among all NJSIAA schools in state titles won.
