CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A medical helicopter pilot was killed in a crash on Interstate 24 involving a vehicle that plunged into the Red River in Clarksville.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 52-year-old Michael Atzert was killed after a car collided with his on I-24 at around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The crash sent both vehicles into the median. Atzert’s car continued down an embankment and into the Red River.
Atzert was found dead at the scene. Charges are pending for the driver of the other vehicle, 28-year-old James Centers.
