GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The North Carolina State Highway Patrol hosted gatherings across the state today for the 2025 World Day of Remembrance for road traffic victims, including in Greenville.

Events were held in Fayetteville and Salisbury as well, honoring those 19 years old and younger who lost their lives on the roads.

Silence and empty shoes were set out by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Greenville Troop A on Sunday.

“With each of these shoes, they represent an individual who lost their life, but what we don’t see is all of the people who’re attached to them. Their parents, their family, their friends,” said Timothy Reeder, Pitt County representative.
