NEWNAN, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has provided an update on the officer-involved shooting in Coweta County on Saturday morning.

According to the GBI, early investigations show that around 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 15, officers with the Newnan Police Department responded to a 911 hang-up call in the 900 block of Bullsboro Drive.

As officers arrived, they found 29-year-old Sonny Francis Conto standing on the steps of a semi-truck, yelling at the driver who was inside the truck. Officers state they instructed Conto to step down, but he did not comply.

An officer attempted to get Conto down from the steps, but he resisted, leading to a struggle.
