The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has opened an inquiry into an officer-involved shooting Saturday morning in Newnan that left a 29-year-old man and a police officer with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Bullsboro Drive after Newnan Police responded to a 911 hang-up call.
When officers arrived, they found Sonny Francis Conto of Glassboro, New Jersey, standing on the steps of a semi-truck and yelling at the driver inside, according to the GBI.
Police instructed Conto to step down, but he refused. When an officer attempted to help him down, Conto resisted, leading to a struggle.
