A Pittsburgh man is in the Mahoning County Jail after police say he nearly ran over first responders on a closed road because he was "in a hurry."

According to a police report from Poland Township PD, officers were called to a crash on Route 224 near Struthers Road that caused Route 224 to be shut down from Struthers Road to Quarry Road.

Police say the crash involved an oversized load truck, as well as a pickup truck with a telephone pole on top of it and downed wires in the roadway.

According to the report, a white Honda vehicle sped through the closed road, nearly hitting a firefighter and causing several State Troopers in neon vests to run out of the way to avoid being hit.
