ANDERSON, S.C. — Authorities announced Thursday that an Anderson County couple has been arrested and charged with neglecting and exploiting a vulnerable adult, allegedly stealing nearly $330,000 over a two-year period.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, Randall Aaron Simmons, 47, and Tonya Elizabeth Simmons, 45, are accused of conspiring together from August 2022 through September 2024 to misappropriate $329,869.08 in money and assets belonging to the victim.

Investigators say the couple removed the victim from a skilled nursing facility, assumed responsibility for his care, and then failed to provide adequate food, hygiene supplies, and daily living assistance.
