AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Gov. Mills is calling on the Trump Administration to reverse a decision that Mills says would put more than one thousand Mainers at risk for homelessness.

Last Thursday, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced cuts for the Continuum of Care programs.

According to Mills, Maine currently receives over $20 million a year for these programs, but the new H.U.D. directive would cap the amount at $7 million.

The programs currently assist 1,800 Mainers across the state with housing.

Mills and other leaders in community services around the state say the new cap from H.U.D. could leave 1,200 Mainers, including 350 people in Bangor, without homes.
