Piscataway, NJ – A major police investigation Monday night has shut down a key stretch of River Road, prompting traffic disruptions across the area.

Authorities announced the closure shortly before 8 p.m.

The Piscataway Township Police Department said River Road is closed between Hoes Lane West and Route 18 until further notice.

Earlier alerts indicated that the initial closure began around 7:40 p.m., extending from Hoes Lane West to Route 287 as officers responded to an ongoing investigation.

Police have not released details on the nature of the incident or what prompted the closure.
