Authorities in Newark request the public’s help identifying the male suspect who attempted to steal an E-scooter from a bike rack on October 27.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. stated that at approximately 12:34 p.m., the suspect was captured on surveillance video carrying a sharp tool near the bike rack at Seton Hall Law School in the 1100 block of Raymond Boulevard.
With the tool, which may have been bolt cutters, the suspect attempted to cut the lock and steal an electric scooter, Newark officials said.
According to Newark officials, a public safety official at the school confronted the suspect, who backed off and fled on foot, walking eastbound on Raymond Boulevard towards McCarter Highway.
